Export_Credit_Agencies

Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) are national public institutions which act as finance companies for private domestic entities who do business abroad. ECAs provide government-backed loans, guarantees and insurance covering both commercial and political risk. Most industrialized nations have at least one ECA, which is usually a public institution.For instance, a transnational corporation, or investor, will seek insurance from an ECA when investing money in a foreign country. The rate that they receive depends on the political and economic stability of the foreign country being invested in.The activities of ECAs are considered by some, such as Noam Chomsky, to be a type of welfare for large corporations. ECAs are also criticised for insuring companies against political actions which aim to protect trade union|workers' rights, other human rights or the natural environment in the countries where the investment is being made.

Biomedical_engineering

Biomedical engineering is a discipline concerned with the development and manufacture of prosthesis|prostheses, medical devices, diagnostic devices, drugs and other therapies as well as the application of engineering principles to basic biological science problems. It combines the expertise of engineering with medical needs to improve healthcare. It is more concerned with biological, safety and regulatory issues than other forms of engineering. It may be defined as "The application of engineering principles and techniques to the medical field."Biomedical engineers usually require degrees from recognized universities, and sound knowledge engineering, and human anatomy and physiology. Their jobs often pay well (ranging from US $50,000 to $100,000 per year in 2005). Though the number of biomedical engineers are currently low (under 10,000), the number is expected to rise as modern medicine improves. Universities are now improving their undergraduate biomedical engineering co! urses because interest in the field is increasing.It was not until the late 1930s when researchers began to understand the effects of X-rays on tissues and the electrical properties of tissues. These discoveries permitted doctors to use X-rays to get images of most organ systems. These techniques encouraged manufacturers to develop the modern array of medical imaging technologies. These technologies nearly eliminated the need for exploratory surgery. Imaging technologies were the first modern applications of scientific engineering to medical needs. Earlier devices were built as a craft by instrument-makers. These earlier devices included crutches, platform shoes, artificial teeth|wooden teeth, and the ever-changing instruments in the doctor’s bag. Some of the modern devices that followed medical imaging include pacemakers, infusion pumps, the heart-lung machine, dialysis machines, diagnostic equipment, imaging technologies of every kind, and tissue engineering! |artificial organs, implants, and advanced prosthetics.Most bi! omedical devices are either inherently safe, or have added devices and systems so that they can sense their failure and shut down into an unusable, thus very safe state. A typical, basic requirement is that no single failure should cause the therapy to become unsafe at any point during its life-cycle. See safety engineering for a discussion of the procedures used to design safe systems. Many biomedical devices need to be Sterilization (microbiology) |sterilized. This creates a unique set of problems, since most sterilization techniques can cause damage to machinery and materials. Most biomedical devices are completely tested. That is, every line of software is executed, or every possible setting is exercised and verification|verified. Most devices are intentionally simplified in some way to make the testing process less expensive, yet accurate.

Special Order

I consider "Here today..." the Dayglo's most mature album. The lyrics are charged with ironic, caustic and reflexive content and the music it's the kind of powerful contemporary punk that you can't stay quiet whileyou listen it. Take D.R.I, Led Zeppelin, Quentin Tarantino and Ren &Stimpy, mix it, and you get "Here today, guano Tomorrow". All this album'ssongs are great, but I think "Dragons", Drugged and Driving", "Hide thehamster" and "Here today..." are definitively THE songs. If you are aHardcore/Punk lover can't miss this BAND.

Economic_abortionism

Economic abortionism is a pejorative, somewhat inflammatory term used by some American liberals and centrists to describe the belief of some conservatives that society should not provide affordable health insurance for all citizens. The term economic abortionism compares the preventable deaths of lower-income people, particularly children, to abortion, a medical procedure that religious conservatives (as well as some liberals) have a tendency to oppose, sometimes vehemently. The essential claim made in using the term is that those who allow preventable death by accepting the current state of the healthcare system are complicit in murder; that failing to cover people's healthcare costs is "aborting" them economically.

J. S. Bach, the staunch Lutheran composer of the Baroque period, produced a son who would become one of the great Catholic composers of the new Classical period. He was the youngest of J. S. Bach's sons, and a convert to the Roman Catholic Faith. Although the conversion of Johann Christian Bach brought sorrow to his family, it gave a new dimension to his amazing music. It also gave the Church a gifted composer for the Liturgy. His music was written in Latin for the Church, and this recording is the best example I've ever heard. The recording of the Salve Regina, a prayer to the Blessed Virgin, is particularly fine. The psalm and motet on the recording are wonderul! I highly recommend this CD for all true lovers of the Classical period, and of J. C. Bach in particular. The instruments and singing are a perfect! If you want one CD that shows the talent of this composer -- this is the one!

Building_code

A building code is a set of law|laws that specify how buildings should be constructed. This is generally considered the minimum acceptable level of safety for a new building in a jurisdiction.In some countries the building codes are National Codes and apply across the country. In other countries the laws are adopted at a Municipal government|municipal or subnational entity|subnational entities level. In these cases a model building code system is usually used. In other cases jurisdictions may adopt national or model codes from other jurisdiction.Building codes generally include:
* Structural Engineering |Structural safety: buildings should be strong enough to resist internally and externally applied forces without collapsing;
* Fire safety: includes requirements to prevent the fire spread to/from neighbours, provide warning of occupants, and safe exiting of building, limitation on fire spread, and provisions for fire suppression/fire fighting;
* Health requirements: adequate washrooms, adequate HVAC|air circulation, and plumbing materials.Some building codes sometimes include requirements for:
* Accessibility: requirements to ensure that a building is accessible for persons in wheelchairs or having other disability|disabilities.Building codes generally do not include:
* Aesthetics: Any regulation of the aesthetics of buildings are usually included in zoning by-laws;
* Traffic convenience: Limitations on traffic flow are usually either in zoning or other municipal by-laws;
* Building Use: the safe use of a building is generally in the Fire Code; or
* Required upgrades for existing building: unless the building is being renovated the building code usually does not apply.Building codes include:
* specifications on components;
* allowable installation methodologies;
* minimum and maximum room and exit sizes and location;
* qualification of individuals or corporations doing the work.For high structures of all kinds, it must be considered that it can be an obstacle for aircrafts and must therefore often marked for aircrafts.These requirements are usually a combination of prescriptive requirements that spell out exactly how something is to be done, and performance requirements which just outline what the required level of performance is and leave it up to the designer how this is achieved. Historically they are very reactive in that when a problem occurs the building codes change to ensure that the problem never happens again. In recent years there has been a move amongst most of the building codes to move to more performance requirements and less prescriptive requirements.Building codes are generally long complex interrelated sets of rules. They generally include reference to hundreds of other codes, standards and guidelines that specify the details of the component or system design, specif! y testing requirements for components, or outline good engineering practice. Building codes are generally intended to be applied by architects and engineers. There is often other codes or sections of the building code that have more prescriptive requirements that apply to housing (one and two family dwellings).Building codes have a long history. What is generally accepted as the first building code was in the Code of Hammurabi which specified that if you build a building and it falls and kills the owner's son, the builder's son would be put to death.

The skinny: This is a purely TA 'top-down' trend-following breakout system presented. Explained below.. This book is fairily basic and as such will be especially useful to those new to the 'game.' While it will be tedious for experienced market participants to brush through explainations of what a moving average is, etc--I believe we can all learn something from the straight-forward TA employed by Stan Weinstein. For example, you wont see Elliot Wave defended or charts with pitchforks drawn on them--but rather a focus on moving averages (the simple logic being that MAs cut through volatility to give a better idea of the trend,) a top-down approach (i.e. Market --> Industry Group --> Security,) etc. While I hold less faith than Stan in breakout systems, it's presented here in a easy to understand manner with examples and answers to test how well you are following his instruction. This man is a good teacher, and reminds me of William O'Neil in the way he gets his ideas acro! ss. Particularily useful--at least for me--were his half-dozen or so favorite indicators he gave for guessing the future trend of stock markets. Stan also gives his view on when to take profit on an equity you own, when and how to cut losses, and position sizing: i.e., the other 3/4 of your investing success. I don't pretend to know a lot--but from what I've seen in my short experience, there is a lot of nonsense and questionable ideas used by some people under the TA banner, but Stan focuses on the simple, logical, common sense anaylsis. Being sophisticated--rather than demanding common sense--in many things in life including TA I believe causes more trouble than good; people want to believe they can figure something out and often vainly connect sophistry with (investor) wisdom.

A Bear Market is a phase in the life of a stock market or other financial market in which the value of most listed shares of stock fall consistently, or values in a financial market trend downward, as reflected by a downward movement of one or more key stock indexes or other financial market indices. Equity investment|Investors, anticipating further losses, are thus motivated to sell, and the pessimistic sentiment may feed on itself in a Virtuous circle and vicious circle|vicious circle.Prices fluctuate constantly on the open market; a bear market is not a simple decline, but a substantial drop in the prices of a range of issues over a defined period of time. By one common definition, a bear market is marked by a price decline of 20% or more in a key stock market index from a recent peak over at least a two-month period. However, no single definition of a bear market exists. Indeed, a long bear market may include periods of temporary price increases, known as a bear market r! ally.Declines in the index of below 15-20% are generally referred to as "corrections" or "adjustments" in the market. An exaggerated bear market characterized by panic selling is called a stock market crash. The opposite of a bear market is a "bull market." * In Futures an extended downward movement in securities prices.

I feel I should post how much I hated this piece of junk here, since the other reviews seem to give the impression that it's a fantastic game and everybody will love it. I couldn't stand it and took it back a couple of days later. All the positive reviews below positively puzzle me, since engaged in a conversation about this game in the local EB, everybody else declared they had hated it too. So who's writing those reviews? The thing is too slow! It takes about 50 years to build a school. And the economics of the game don't make sense either -- you charge nothing for rent and pay everybody beaucoup bucks, and still everybody moves off your island and the birth rate decreases. Also, this game is not as funny as the programmers obviously believe. I agree with the reviewer below who said that the manual is much funnier than the actual game. Lastly, the graphics of the game are overcomplex, meaning that the game will be extremely fussy on most setups. This wouldn't be such a ! problem, but Tropico either has no tech support line, or they don't answer what they say is the support line, or they've done a fantastic job with hiding the contact information of the real tech support line. In other words, after a couple of days of trying, I couldn't get any help.

Mastoiditis

Mastoiditis is an infection of the mastoid process, the portion of the temporal bone of the skull that is behind the ear. It is usually caused by untreated acute otitis media (middle ear infection) and used to be a leading cause of child mortality. With the development of antibiotics, however, mastoiditis has become quite rare in developed countries, most likely due to antibiotic treatment of otitis media before it can spread. It is treated with medications and/or surgery. If untreated, the infection can spread to surrounding structures, including the brain, causing serious complications.
